Chief Instructor: Michele Ruschhaupt Aikido is a Budo (martial art) which was developed in the early 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba, known to his students as O Sensei (Great Teacher; pictured left). Aikido is a discipline designed to stop aggression and violence as well as to help people develop their full potential as individuals; physically, mentally, and spiritually. The gentle quality of Aikido makes it appealing to men, women, and children of all ages. Through this practice we form a commitment to peaceful resolution of conflict whenever possible. Because of the cooperation necessary when performing Aikido techniques with a partner, self-improvement becomes a direct result of our training. |
