Bucks County AikidoThe word "Aikido" is made up of three japanese characters: ai - harmony, ki - spirit, mind, or universal energy, do - the way. Thus Aikido is "the way of harmony with universal energy." Chief Instructor - George Lyons SenseiTeacher; anyone who gives guidance along the way; literally "born before"

George Lyons Sensei began his study of Aikido in 1985 at the San Diego Aikikai.

In 1986 he joined the teachers training program and became an apprentice of Chiba ShihanMaster teacher.

After six years with Chiba Sensei, he finished his apprenticeship in Tokyo, Japan, as a live-in student in Hombu DojoPlace of the way; a place for strengthening and refinement body, mind and spirit; training hall, under the guidance of the late K. Ueshiba, son of O-SenseiGreat teacher; the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba.

Lyons Sensei is a 6th-degree black belt and Shihan (master teacher). He has been teaching in Bucks County since 1992.

I have had this phrase rolling around in my head now for over a decade: aikidoThe word "Aikido" is made up of three japanese characters: ai - harmony, ki - spirit, mind, or universal energy, do - the way. Thus Aikido is "the way of harmony with universal energy." is for life. At first glance it seems contradictory. Aikido is a martial art and that means physical conflict to me. Given that we live in an advanced society that frowns on resolving personal differences through physical confrontation, the contradiction comes into focus. How can I apply a method of resolving physical conflict (aikido) in a world where physical conflict is rare?
